As they were monitoring the delivery truck in Green Valley, agents saw numerous people get in the cargo compartment.

A group of 41 illegal immigrants, who had each paid $2,000 for entry into the United States, was found in the back of a delivery truck last weekend.
Border Patrol agents noticed the "suspicious-looking" delivery truck parked on a road shoulder near Continental Road in Green Valley on Saturday morning, according to an agency news release.

After monitoring the truck, agents saw numerous people get into the cargo compartment, the release said. When they moved in to make an arrest, the driver and a passenger jumped out and ran into the desert.

The 41 people were all from Mexico, according to the Border Patrol.

Also, three vehicles were stopped Tuesday near Arivaca carrying 44 illegal immigrants. Two of the trucks had been reported stolen.

The occupants in the bed of one of the trucks threw debris at the pursuing Border Patrol agent, forcing him to pull off the road.

The status of the people in both cases was unknown last night.

Border Patrol officials have established a 24-hour toll free number for anyone to report suspicious activity: (877) 872-7435.
