Dozens Of Cuban Migrants Repatriated Friday
MIAMI - Thirty-four Cuban migrants found at sea in four separate incidents
last week were returned to the Caribbean island on Friday, the U.S. Coast
Guard said.
The repatriations raised the number of Cuban migrants repatriated last
week to 57.
The Coast Guard said 10 Cubans found floating in a raft about 40 miles south of Key West were intercepted Wednesday and placed on a cutter.
Eight more migrants were spotted by a Falcon jet on a homemade vessel Tuesday 57 miles south of Key West and picked up by a cutter.
On Monday, a group of six migrants was found on a raft 18 miles north of Cuba. Another group of 10 Cubans was found June 19 about 35 miles south of the Marquesas Keys, west of Key West.
Under U.S. policy, most Cubans found at sea are returned home, and those
who reach U.S. shores usually are allowed to stay.<
