Haiti Revolt
February 2004

Residents dance and sing in the streets of Maissade, after
anti-government guerrillas swept through the town on Feb. 17
and police abandoned their posts. “Whether Aristide likes it
or not, he must go,” demonstrators shouted.

      antigovernment militants.

Thousands of people gathered in the town of Goniaves on
Thursday to show support for the opposition resistance,
who are trying to force President Aristide from power.
Waving arms and guns they cheered for the men who took
    power Feb. 6.
