GUATEMALA CITY (AP) -- Delegations from Guatemala and Belize will meet
at
the Washington headquarters of the Organization of American States Monday
in
another attempt to calm a festering border dispute.
Both sides hope the meeting will result in a third round of diplomatic talks.
The nations held OAS-mediated talks in late February but failed to accomplish
their goal of scheduling a meeting between Guatemalan President Alfonso
Portillo
and Belizean Prime Minister Said Musa.
The recent killing of two Guatemalans by border guards from Belize has
reignited
a century-old border dispute in which Guatemala claims some or all of Belize.
