2 Rebels Sentenced By Santiago Court

Havana, July 2 - In Santiago de Cuba, capital of Oriente Province,
the Urgency Court sentenced Javier Pazos and Armando Hart today to five
months of imprisonment for collaborating with the Castro rebels. Javier
is the son of Felipe Pazos, a former president of the National Bank of
Cuba during the Carlos Prio administration. Señor Hart is the son
of a former magistrate of the Havana Court of Appeals. The younger Pazos
was immediatly released since he has already served the five months in
the prison at Santiago.
Señor hart was held since charges are still pending against
him in Havana where he escaped from Principe Fortress jail many months
ago. The Father of Señor Hart, Judge Enrique Hart, was recently
was recently released from the bench by the Cuban Supreme Court.
Seventeen rebels were killed in an encounter with government
troops in the Escambray Mountains of Las Villas Province, according to
a statement of Camp Colombia army headquarters here.
