Tampa picked for summit on Cuba
The National Summit on Cuba will be held Oct. 8 at the University of
Tampa's historic Plant Hall.
The day-long conference will focus on the state of current U.S.-Cuba
relations.
It will include a comprehensive assessment of U.S. businesses' experiences with Cuba and the effect of the Trade Sanctions Reform Act approved by Congress in 2000.
Trade opportunities for Florida and Gulf Coast businesses also will be explored.
In the past, the summit has been held in Washington, D.C., and Miami.
Sponsors of the event include the Florida-Cuba Business Council, the Alliance for Responsible Cuba Policy Foundation and Americans for Humanitarian Trade with Cuba.
Arthur Savage, president of A.R. Savage & Son and chair of the Tampa Chamber of Commerce's Cuba Task Force, will participate.
