Toledo is sued for support
LIMA - (AP) -- The mother of a teenage girl has sued President Alejandro Toledo, who reluctantly acknowledged fathering the child, for more child support, reports said Wednesday.
Lucrecia Orozco, mother of 16-year-old Zarai Toledo, filed a claim last week with a provincial court seeking 60 percent of the president's salary, alleging that his child support payments have not always been paid punctually, radio and television reported.
Toledo originally set his salary at $18,000 a month when he took office in July 2001, but cut it several times in the face of criticism.
He most recently set it in July at $8,400 -- of which he promised to donate an additional 25 percent to charity.
Toledo agreed to begin making monthly child support payments after publicly acknowledging the girl was his daughter in October 2002.
