New Orleans January 27, 1855
Sir:
As I had no opportunity of handing you the accompanying biographical sketch, I trust you will allow me to present you with a copy. If it gives pleasure to you, I shall be sufficiently repaid and feel highly gratified by your favorable opinion. A tribute from a man of acknowledged genius is very flattering.
I regret most sincerely that I was not fortunate enough to get all the notes I wanted; however I live with a hope of writing your biography again, and then you will better know the deference which I have always paid to your talents and heroism. Meanwhile, I trust you will read with indulgence the one I send you.
If opportunity and inclination allow you to waste a thought on myself, you will find me not only attached and sincere, but ever and ever
Yours very faithfully,
J. A. Quintero
