Mexico Says Drug Lord Arrested

MEXICO CITY, May 3 -- Mexican police have arrested an alleged drug lord
accused of joining forces with his two brothers to smuggle large quantities
of synthetic
drugs into the United States.
President Vicente Fox, on a visit to Washington, said Adan Amezcua,
dubbed along with his brothers as Mexico's "kings of amphetamines," was
arrested Thursday
morning.
"This is truly a great arrest now that the three Amezcua brothers are in jail," Fox said in comments broadcast by Mexican radio stations.
Luis and Jesus Amezcua were arrested in 1998, and U.S. authorities have
requested their extradition on charges that they dominated the trade in
smuggling
amphetamines into the United States.
Adan Amezcua was arrested in late 1997 but was later released for lack of evidence.
