U.S. Studying Case of 3 Youths in Cuba

 

            WASHINGTON, March 27 (UP) – The State Department said today it was investigating the case of three United States youths who have joined Cuban rebel forces.

            The three, all sons of Navy men stationed at Guantanamo bay, Cuba, are Victor J. Buehlman, 17 years old; Michael L Garvey, 15, and Charles E. Ryan, 20.

            A State Department spokesman said United States Embassy officials in Havana have asked Cuban authorities for assistance in returning the youths to their parents.

            HAVANA, March 27 – The police today seized arms worth $300,000 in two caches in the Havana suburbs of Luyano and Cerro.

            Four men and one woman were arrested.  One was Dr. Hector Haces Hernandez, physician at the Government emergency hospital, who is accused of being a leader of the insurgents who attacked the Presidential Palace march 13.

            The police said the arms included thirty-six machine guns, eighteen rifles, one anti-aircraft gun, thousands of machine-gun and rifle shells and police and army uniforms.
