Iran, Cuba Mulling Over Expansion of Sports Cooperation: Mehralizadeh
TEHRAN Vice President and Head of Physical Education
Organization (PEO), Mohsen Mehralizadeh, said in his meeting with
the Cuban ambassador to Tehran that the two countries are
considering to boost their sports cooperation.
According to PEO, the two sides conferred Thursday and
Mehralizadeh underlined reinforcement of bilateral cooperation.
Referring to the growing progress of Cuba in all sporting fields,
Mehralizadeh expressed hope that he would visit Cuba in the near
future and prepare the ground for strengthening bilateral sports
cooperation.
The president of Physical Education Organization added that Cuba
has made great success in sports by applying and combining
Eastern technology and Western executive mechanism, revealing
good management.
The Cuban ambassador also referred to President Mohammad
Khatami's visit to Cuba and the meeting between President of
Cuba, Fidel Castro, and Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a
prelude to expansion of bilateral ties in all areas, IRNA reported.
In Cuba, fundamental plans have been implemented in the sports
sector, said the ambassador, adding this sector is based on four
axes of sports medicine, sports biotechnology, sports policy and
experiences.
He expressed hope that his country would help Iran by sharing its
experiences in these four fields.
