New Trial Denied For Bosch Group
U.S. Judge William O. Mehrtans yesterday denied a
new trial for Orlando Bosch and eight other Cubans convicted in connection
with bombings of ships.
The judge tentatively set Dec. 13 for sentencing.
Melvyn Greenspahn; defense attorney, argued that
tape recordings admitted as evidence violated constitutional protection
against self-incrimination.
The tapes were made with a microphone hidden in
the clothing of Ricardo Morales, a paid informer who infiltrated a self-styled
Cuban Power group.
Bosch, an anti-Castro exile, could get 28 years
in prison and the other defendants lesser terms.
