Fidel: We Will Kill Saboteurs

By BOB M. GASSAWAY

Cuba will "assassinate without a thought of any kind" anyone who tries to sabotage efforts to harvest a record 10-million-ton sugar crop, Fidel Castro warned Sunday.

Speaking from a cane field where he and top Cuban Communist officials cut cane with five North Vietnamese and five Viet Cong soldiers, Castro hinted saboteurs may not even be given a trial.

"From now on, we will assassinate without a single thought of any kind everybody who tries to sabotage the harvest," Castro said. "In this fight of the people to go ahead, to win the battle of underdevelopment, we are not going to move with complaisance before the lackeys and the miserable ones who, in the service of imperialism try to sabotage us.

"In this there are no middle terms, no options of any kind. To him who jokes about this, I say that it is a joke that he won't have the chance to repeat," he said in a Radio Havana broadcast monitored in Miami.

Cuba announced earlier this month that three infiltrators were killed in battle, four were cut down by a firing squad and three more were sentenced to 20 years in prison. Havana Radio said the men carried equipment to sabotage the sugar harvest and other targets.

Castro said that before the end of the month he plans to pay a visit to some 200 youthful Americans who are in Cuba to help with the cane harvest.
