Trio Nabbed in a Plane With Bombs
Three men were arrested at Tamiami Airport last night as they prepared to take off in an improvised bomber.
Members of the Sheriff's intelligence unit seized the men and a twin-engine Apache plane loaded with three aerial bombs and a carton containing 15 pounds of gelatin explosive.
The three were identified as Arthur Andrew Gerteil, 25, who said he lives at a motel at 3141 SW 8th St., and Barbaro Galan Garcia and Marcos Rodriguez Ramos, both 30, who share an apartment at 735 SW 1st St.
Deputies on the raiding squad said they had been watching the men prepare for the flight, but declined to say if they knew what was to be bombed.
The suspects were held in county jail pending transfer to federal authorities.
