We bombed consulate in Madrid, FLNC says

The national Cuban Liberation Front (FLNC) claims its followers have set off an explosion in the consulate of Cuba, in Madrid, Spain.

"Ignacio," the hooded FLNC member who met with a Miami News reporter recently, reported the Madrid bombing last night via telephone.

The blast went off at 1:30 p.m. yesterday, he said. The FLNC has taken responsibility for a number of previous bombings of Cuban facilities on foreign soil.

Ignacio said the FLNC is not concerned about a federal grand jury probe into the FLNC that began in Miami Thursday. No indictments have been returned.

"We are pleased that the U.S. attorney acting on that probe has not called anyone that has anything at all to do - directly or indirectly - with the FLNC," Ignacio said.

The grand jury and a special Justice Department attorney sent here from Washington to investigate FLNC activities, subpoenaed seven area Cubans last week in the case docketed under the name "U.S. versus John Doe."
