Capture Of Exile Confirmed

A Cuban exile organization has acknowledged the capture of one of its military leaders after he landed in Cuba recently with a group of anti-Castro infiltrators.

The Miami-based Cuban Representation in Exile (RECE) identified the man as Angel Luis Castillo, a former captain in Fidel Castro's army.

It said he landed in Oriente Province with a large group of fellow exiles but gave no details as to how many men were involved or what had happened to them.

The statement issued by RECE called for the intervention of various nations as well as the Vatican in an effort to save Castillo's life.

It was the first RECE comment on month-long reports that there were approximately 10 men in the landing party and that all either were killed or captured.

Sources in Miami confirmed that the expedition had been crushed by Castor shortly after its arrival in Cuba last month and said the leader of the group, Amancio Mosqueda, who is also known as El Yarey, was among those wounded and captured.
